Wilson Anderson Service Award

The KSMO Branch of the International Dyslexia Association is please to be accepting nominations for the 2018 Wilson Anderson Service award.  Many of you know how many years Wilson Anderson put into getting our branch up and running.   Please submit nominations by February 1st to ksmoida@gmail.com.  The recipient will receive a handsome certificate and FREE one-day conference registration to be used at one of the next 3 KMSO IDA conferences.  Criteria for the award are threefold:

1) Must be an IDA member

2) Must have a positive record of informing the community about dyslexia and related disorders either as a professional or a volunteer or both

3) Must actively support the goals of IDA and KSMO Branch

National Teachers Hall of Fame recognizes Diana King with a Lifetime Achievement Award

Ms. King was the co-founder of the Kildonan school in New York state for students with dyslexia.  She has worked over six decades teaching students with Dyslexia.  Check out her book: “One by One” where she talks about her work with students.  Ms. King will receive her award on Saturday June 11, 2016, at the 25th Anniversary Gala Banquet at the Marriott on the Kansas City Plaza.  There will be a reception at 5:30 and the banquet will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Wilson Anderson Service Award
2012 Recipient – Billie Calvary

The Wilson Anderson Service Award began in 2003. It is named in honor of Wilson Anderson, who spearheaded the foundation of an IDA branch for Kansas and Missouri. The annual award is presented at our spring conference, and its purpose is to honor those, like Wilson Anderson, who have served the cause of IDA in Kansas and Missouri.

The recipient is chosen by a committee selected from the Board of Directors We invite letters of recommendation for the committee to consider.
The criteria for selection are:

  • membership in IDA
  • positive record of informing the community about dyslexia and related disorders either as a professional or a volunteer or both
  • active support of the goals of IDA Kansas Missouri Branch

The recipients to date have been:
